Hello!
About the Artist...
My name is Leah Blatteis (Pronounced: “Blatt-ice”), and welcome to my portfolio website! I am a visual artist focusing primarily on pre-production, specifically Story and Character Design.
I recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design with my BFA in Animation and a concentration in Story and Concept. During my time at SCAD, I had the wonderful opportunity to direct two films, one of which is currently being screened in film festivals! I also have had the opportunity to storyboard for both 2D and 3D animated short films as well as a live-action documentary project for PBS, which went on to be nominated for an Emmy.
I take pride in my artistic background as well as my familial background. I am a bilingual Latina and Hispanic artist raised in the American South, with family roots spanning across continents. My mother immigrated from Spain, and my maternal grandmother is from Peru, bringing a blend of Latin American and European influences into my life. On my paternal side, my German and Jewish grandfather's survival of the Holocaust has instilled in me a deep sense of resilience and strength.
Having grown up in such a culturally rich environment, I've developed a deep appreciation for diversity and unique voices. In addition to my cultural background, I hold dual citizenship with the EU (Spain), allowing me to bridge connections across borders.
I invite you to check back from time to time as I update my portfolio with new works. Feel free to browse and connect with me!
Thank you
-Leah
